How to create a unique impact on your own

Making changes in the community is essential; however, it does not have to be done by a group of people or corporate organizations. It does not matter how little you might think you can do; there are impacts that you can make single-handedly. We all love seeing people make impacts and changes, but the best ones can only be done by you and me. You can make the impact by establishing non-profit organizations, volunteering, and caring for helpless kids.

The world that we have today is full of problems, so you might be convinced that your act would not change anything. However, an impact that you consider insignificant might be the only help someone somewhere receives.

If you have an interest in creating an impact and making the world a better place, here are some tips on how to create a unique impact on your own.

Giving your time

Try to give back to your community through volunteering your time. Look for nonprofits and charities in your surrounding area and volunteer to help. Spend time with Elderly people at a local nursing home. You can even become a mentor at a local high school. Host a beach clean up day with a small group of friends. Giving your time to others is of the greatest things you can give, because it is something you can never get back.

Remember that the happiest people are not the ones getting more, but those giving more. – H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Helping others

There is a sense of happiness, fulfillment, connectedness, and meaning you can derive from helping other people. Find ways to make a difference; you can offer to pick up your friend’s kid from school, help colleagues meet deadlines, work for your partner, help mothers with children get off their strollers on the subway or buy a cup of coffee for someone at work. Buy lunch for the person behind you. Lending an ear to a friend in need. Open the doors for others so that they can walk in.

Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give. – Eleanor Roosevelt

Be kind

Be kind towards a lot of people that you meet during the day, whether they are loved ones or random people. Even small things like calling a friend or buying lunch for a stranger can change their day. Commit to calling an elderly loved one once a week. Commit to having hang out nights with you kids or nieces and nephews. Bring in donuts for the office. Send someone a kind note for something they did that day. Challenge yourself to find something nice in everyone you meet.

With a busy schedule and not a lot of time on your hands, it can be hard to volunteer. You can donate financially to local organizations. You can donate to a local organization that provides scholarship funding to underserved high school students. You can donate to local organizations that provide.

You must give more in order to get more. It is the generous giving of ourselves that produces the generous harvest. – Orison Swett Marden

Often, we quit at the idea of giving back or trying to create an impact. It can fluster trying to put an idea or team together. Its easy to get lost in the chaos of putting an event together. You can start small, create daily ways of giving back on your own. Giving does not always mean a huge event. It could mean throwing a surprise baby shower for a local mother that may be going through hard times. Or it could be just sending a card to a patient at the hospital. Find ways that stir your heart and start small.
